About

The International Geometry Summit 2023 (IGS’23) will co-locate in a joint event the major conferences in applied geometry:

  • SMI’23 - Shape Modeling International 2023 - July 4-6
  • SPM’23 - Symposium on Physical and Solid Modeling 2023 - July 5-7
  • GMP’23 – Geometric Modeling and Processing 2023 - July 6-7
  • GD’23 – SIAM Conference on Computational Geometric Design 2023 - July 3-7
  • SGP’23 - EG Symposium on Geometry Processing 2023 - July 3-5

  • After the long pandemic period, the summit will offer to the scientific community the opportunity to meet again in person, combining the programmes of the five co-located conferences into one-week-long get-together with researchers and experts in the fields.

The summit’s conferences will join forces to showcase the breadth and the impact of applied geometry in the scientific context as well as in today’s world.

The call for papers and submission process will be handled by the individual conferences.

Looking forward to welcoming you to Genova at the Geometry Summit in July.

CNR IMATI would like to remember the colleague Maria Vittoria Prati and Fulvio Filace who tragically died after an accident that occurred while at work on 23 June.

    Description Social Events

The week dedicated to the IGS'23 Summit will have two social highlights.

    Welcome Reception

    Monday 3rd July starting from h. 18:30

Location: “Eastern Gardens or Giardini di Levante” - DAD (Department of Architecture and Design) in Stradone Sant’Agostino, 37 - (Genoa).
DAD, which is also the venue of IGS’23, will host the Welcome Reception in an incredible outdoor scenario.
The cloister, the raised garden, the view of the harbour, the frescoes and the brickwork of the porticoes are a fascinating and ideal setting for the campus of course and for hosting people too. Immersed in the historic centre, it has a significant link with the most vital and creative part of the city, close to theatres, artisan workshops and typical locales that enter into the daily life of those who study and work here.

    Gala Dinner

    Wednesday 5 July 2023 starting from h. 20:30

Location: “Il Marin” Restaurant at Eataly – Bldg. Millo, Genoa’s Old Port
The view over Genoa's Old Port from the Restaurant, especially its terraces, is lost as far as the iconic Lanterna. The Ligurian mood permeates the restaurant's dining room, amidst stanzas of Genoese singer-songwriters framed on the walls. Chef Marco Visciola's creative process with his large brigade peeps out beyond the open technological laboratory. Welcome to a corner of paradise suspended over the sky of Genoa

    For attendees

    • DAD - Department of Architecture and Design, University of Genoa, Stradone S. Agostino, 37, Genova (GE) The DAD headquarters is an articulated set of buildings in the oldest and most multicultural heart of Genoa. Thanks to the project of arch. Ignazio Gardella, who built a new block, the classrooms and offices of the campus are now housed in the ruins of ancient monasteries and churches around the medieval core of the Bishop's Palace on the Collina di Castello. The renovation of the buildings of the San Silvestro monastery, designed by engineer Luciano Grossi Bianchi, completed the project. URL: https://architettura.unige.it/en/

    • The Cristoforo Colombo international airport is the fastest way to reach Genoa, as well as the most spectacular, since the runway is almost entirely surrounded by the sea. Landing in Genoa, flying over the promontory of Portofino welcomes you with an unforgettable view of the city.
The airport is located just a few kilometers from the city center, and is served by public transport, taxis and trains.
Alternatively, you can get to Genoa by train (Genova Piazza Principe and Genova Brignole are the main stations) or by car, along the A12, A10, A26 or A7 highways.

    • Genoa (Italian, Genova – Genoese, Zena) is a historical port city in northern Italy, the capital of the Liguria region. Genoa has a long history as a rich and powerful trade centre and has the largest medieval city centre in Europe, characterized by a multitude of hidden gems behind cozy alleyways and the magnificent “Palazzi dei Rolli”, a series of noble abodes in the Renaissance and Baroque style, UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The excellent cuisine, the renovated old port, the beautiful sights from the hills overlooking the sea, have made Genoa an enticing place and a popular tourist destination. It’s really hard to list the things to see in Genoa: the Palazzo Ducale, the Doge’s residence since 1339, the Aquarium (one of the biggest in Europe), the Galata Museum of the Sea, the S. Lorenzo Cathedral with its astonishing artworks, the sailors’ neighbourhood of Boccadasse, and much more! With the pastel-coloured terracotta-roofed houses and lovely seaside villages that you appreciated in the 2021 Disney-Pixar’s “Luca” animation movie, Genoa and its surroundings are a must-see to experience the “quintessential” Italy.
